Lead Regional Program Coordinator

Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong is a statewide self-advocacy organization that supports, nurtures, and promotes self-advocacy in youth and adults with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to empower self-advocates through education so we make choices that improve and enrich our lives.

 

Organize and Advocate.

This is an exciting and challenging position for someone who understands and is dedicated to self-advocacy and community organizing. This position requires someone with project management skills, and experience supervising and leading other staff and team members to achieve organizational goals. You will supervise, support, and coordinate existing self-advocacy groups at MASS working closely with other Regional and Rainbow Coordinators, and Peer Facilitators or supporters, to organize monthly activities and meetings.


Flexibility.

This is a position for someone who is flexible to the changing demands of grant funded initiatives. You should be very comfortable with using technology, facilitating meeting groups of self-advocates and people with disabilities, and be accustomed to working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.



Compensation.

This role will start as a part-time non-exempt position for 30 hours a week, Tuesday through Friday, with an initial rate of $22.00-$24.00 per hour, depending on experience, with the potential to move to Full-Time.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide resources, training, and build relationships with new and existing groups in the MASS Regions.

●      Provide training for local and regional group officers, advisors and supporters.

●      Build relationships with local advocacy organizations, providers and DDS on self-advocacy issues and activities.

●      Provide training and initial support for new self-advocacy groups.

●      Publicize Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong and other self-advocacy activities within the MASS Regions.

●      Support regional members and peer trainers to participate in MASS workshops, trainings, and activities.

2. Provide facilitation and support for MASS Regional, statewide drop-ins, SDM Task Force, and other project meetings.

●      Support regional leaders to take action and provide education on issues important to their regions and the organization. 

●      Support regional representatives to communicate information with and from the State Board.

3. Facilitate and lead other monthly workshops and trainings regarding MASS membership and regional participation to help Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong achieve annual goals and contracted deliverables.

4. Attend monthly staff meetings and provide monthly reports on goals.

5. Support any and all logistics for the annual statewide conference and regional membership programs.

6. Help plan and attend the annual retreat.

7. Assist the Board in developing annual goals for the state and regions.

8. Other activities and tasks as requested by the Executive Director and Operations Manager.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years’ experience in self-advocacy, community organizing, human rights, or comparable experience. 

●       Comfort in facilitating groups, training activities, and online webinar presentations to participants and stakeholders.

●       Good oral and written communication skills.

●       Experience with Zoom and online conferencing platforms required.

●       Experience with Social Media (Facebook) and Constant Contact a plus.

●       Experience in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Calendar) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.

●       Vehicle to travel extensively throughout the MASS regions.

●       Availability to work Tuesday through Friday, with willingness to flex schedule 2 to 3 days per month to help facilitate monthly evening meetings,

●       A willingness to learn and grow with the position as new opportunities and funding becomes available to transition to full-time.

●       Familiarity with organizing, networking and creating connections with other groups and allies.
