Department of Developmental Services (DDS)

Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC)
DPPC’s mission is to protect adults with disabilities from the abusive acts or omissions of their caregivers through investigation oversight, public awareness and prevention.

Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council (MDDC)
The MDDC is an independent agency, funded by the federal government, dedicated to empowering people with developmental disabilities and their families to enjoy full productive lives by promoting self-sufficiency, community inclusion & opportunity.

Building Partnerships for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities Initiative (BPI)
Building Partnerships for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities Initiative (BPI) is a statewide Massachusetts initiative that links law enforcement, persons with a disability, adult protection, disability services, victim services, medical personnel and others to address abuse, neglect and crimes committed against persons with a disability using a multidisciplinary approach. BPI works to ensure that persons with a disability have equal access to the criminal justice system.

Private Agencies
The Disability Law Center (DLC)
The DLC is the Protection and Advocacy agency for Massachusetts. DLC is a private, non-profit organization responsible for providing protection and advocacy for the rights of Massachusetts residents with disabilities. DLC receives federal, state and private funding but is not part of the state or federal government.
The Consortium
The Consortium has consistently focused on community–based approaches to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Our focus has not been on “fixing” or improving people, but rather on creating and influencing positive changes in the environment that improve the quality of life of individuals with disabilities.
Self-Advocacy Groups
West Region Self-Advocacy Program
West Region Self Advocacy is a team of local self advocates working together to promote education, equal rights, responsibility and informed choice for people with disabilities to live full lives in the community.
